| Recently, I was in excruciating pain from a herniated disc in my lower back. Pain medication gave no relief and I could not be comfortable standing, sitting or lying down. My husband and I read about Spinemed spinal disc decompression treatment, offered by Backstrong Non-Surgical Rehab Clinic and decided to give it a try. Relief was not immediate but after a few treatments I could tell there was much improvement. I have now had treatments over the span of a few weeks and can say I have no pain. I can go about my normal routine activities without even thinking of my former back pain. Thank you, Dr. Craig Castanet, for your careful administration of Spinemed treatment on my behalf. I would highly recommend that others try the same for neck or back pain. Mrs. J. Lindsey; age 70. |
"My back hurt all the time and my left hip. I've had the problem for 10 or 12 years but the last couple of years it's really gotten severe. I've tried chiropractic, epidurals and acupuncture- they didn't help the back pain. I had a couple of bulging discs and degeneration and a lot of compression (five bulging discs and nerve compression). I'm just tickled to death. I can't believe how well the treatment has done. Where has this treatment been all this time? It seems like this treatment ought to be a common thing. I know that compression on the back has been going on since Adam and Eve. I used to walk about 5 miles a day up until about two years ago. Then I couldn't walk anymore. Before treatment, I could only walk for about a block and then I'd have to sit down. It felt like I was carrying a 100 pound sack on my back and hips. The pain was about an 8 out of 10. Now I don't have any pain. Now I'm back to walking two miles and easing my way back up to five miles a day. My wife is tickled to death about my improvement. I sure recommend anyone to come and try it". James Rogers, age 75, Lilburn, GA |
| "I have my life back! After suffering with three herniated discs for several years, and being told there was no option to surgery, I tried Backstrong as a last resort. The entire staff couldn't have been nicer. I'm free of pain and living life to the fullest again. THANK YOU!" Michael Carrin |
| "WOW!!! I have had back problems for about two years. I have gone to every doctor known to man- chiropractors, back specialists, alternative methods, MRI's and no one or any method worked until I met Dr. Castanet. I was able to sit on the floor with my son and play with him. I drove for fourteen hours pain free!!! He was extremely knowledgeable. All I know is that after 6 doctors, countless visits, money and pain, Dr. Castanet helped my back. I am a contractor by trade and am not easy on my body so I'll tell anyone out there who will listen, Go and see this man!!! His methods and advice are priceless. I would recommend him to anyone." Duane Vigue |
| "I hurt my back in an industrial accident. The pain made my legs collapse from under me. I had a previous epidural and facet injection. The epidural didn't help. The facet injection helped for a short time. My wife had spinal decompression treatment previously and it helped her. I was still somewhat apprehensive but the treatment was pleasant. I was able to stop the medications I was taking before the treatment. It's done wonders for me and I would recommend the spinal decompression treatment to anyone". James Williams, Duluth |
"I was having severe burning pain in my back. I had a right-sided disc herniation with pinching of the L5 nerve root. My pain was often a 10 out of 10 before the treatment. It happened when I fell while roller skating 2 years ago. I had an epidural and that helped but the pain returned. The first time I came to Backstrong I was crying in the waiting room because of the pain and I didn't know if the treatment would help. After treatment of spinal decompression I feel great! I would tell people to try this treatment". Louise Davis, Stone Mountain
|
| "I have had low back pain for over twenty years. I am now pain free! It's the first time in twenty years that I can wake up and say I actually have no pain! I can do everything that I could do before. It used to be that activities like mopping would cause excruciating pain. I would do my regular activities and I would tell myself, "It's going to hurt, and I would prepare for it. I was skeptical because I tried other treatments and they didn't work. I was surprised that the spinal decompression worked and that it worked so quickly and that it's lasting! I would tell people it's worth trying". Vickie Haywood, Decatur |
| "I had low back pain with spasms and I was hospitalized twice, including the week before I started treatment. I travel a lot for my work and couldn't after this happened. My MRI scan done during my hospitalization indicated one or two herniated discs. My wife found out about this treatment and I decided to try it. I was ABSOLUTELY skeptical about the treatment before I started. Now I have returned to tennis activities and travel extensively again. I'm not 17 years old again, but I am a lot better than I was. I would very much recommend this treatment to other people". Parke Kallenberg |
"I had low back pain that radiated down my left leg. I had pain, tingling and numbness down the buttock and leg that was between a 6 to a 9 out of 10. It happened when I fell and landed on my behind on the cement. I had the left leg pain for 15 years and thought it was a knee problem. Over the years I had about 4 epidural injections and they lasted about a week. I did spinal decompression treatment. I would recommend the treatment 100% because after 15 years my left leg pain is gone! It's a miracle for me". Marie Walker, Lithonia
|
| "I was having muscle spasms and pain in the left shoulder, neck and arm. I've had neck and shoulder pain before but this was the worst and went down my arm for the first time. The pain was sometimes excruciating. The only relief I got was standing and raising my left arm over my head. When I drove, I had to raise my arm and hang onto the handle above my driver's side door. I had physical therapy before and I was taking medications but I wasn't getting much relief. The injury happened when I was climbing a ladder. I had spinal decompression treatments and I don't have a problem anymore, except for some occasional tightness but no more pain in the arm. I would definitely recommend the treatment to others". Lucius Felder, Decatur |
| "I had low back pain from an injury about 4 years ago. I had two herniated discs. One was extruded. I re-aggravated it about one month ago picking up a suitcase. I had excruciating pain. It was an 8 or 9 out of 10 before treatment. I tried physical therapy which hurt more. I was very skeptical about the treatment. After treatments my pain is gone. It's done miracles for me because I can sit, walk and stand up straight. I have recommended the treatment to others". David Kravitz, Flowery Branch |
| "I was doing manual labor in the basement and hurt my back. I never experienced low back pain like this before. I couldn't stand up straight. The pain went down my right thigh and calf and was killing me. It was horrendous. I was taking Flexeril and pain killers and it got worse and worse and I couldn't sleep. Fortunately, I found Backstrong and I have to say that when I walked out of there after the first time, and I could stand up straight- that was unbelievable! I'm back to playing tennis now. I'm 100% better. I would recommend the treatment". Hollis Pickett, Tucker |
"I had pain shooting down my left leg and tingling in my leg. I could only walk on a hard surface for 5 minutes- then I had to stop and sit down. I had trouble sleeping on my left side. The pain was very bad. I have had pain off and on for about 10 years. Previous treatment included chiropractors. This last episode was the worst. It started after a golf outing about three months ago. Then I went on a cruise with my wife and I couldn't walk but a few minutes before I had to sit down because of the pain. She told me I had to go see a surgeon when we got back. I was very skeptical of the spinal decompression treatment before I did it. I was very impressed after the first treatment. Last week I golfed for the first time in three months and I didn't have any pain after 18 holes of golf. I would highly recommend this treatment". Donald Whetstine, Grayson

| "I was having lower back pain radiating to my legs and feet. I had the pain for 4 or 5 months. My MRI scan showed a herniated disc at L4-5. Initially the pain was a 10 out of 10, but then it dropped to a 6 or 7 out of 10 and it stayed right there. I could be up and walking for an hour or hour and a half. Then my feet would just start killing me. I had an epidural injection but it only helped a little bit. After treatment here I'm 100% better. I have 0 pain in my feet and legs and today after work my back pain is less than a 1 out of 10. I do a lot of lifting at work. I pretty much can do whatever I want now like cutting the grass, walk around the neighborhood. I am going back to the golf course this Saturday. I was in such pain that I was willing to try anything and it definitely has cured my problem. I definitely would recommend this treatment to others". Douglas Doty, Conyers |
| "I had my back pain for 6 or 7 months. I went to an orthopedic surgeon and he sent me to a physical therapist. I did physical therapy exercises for about 6 months but there didn't seem to be much improvement. Then the orthopedist suggested I come here. I asked him about decompression treatment and he recommended you (Dr. Castanet). I had low back pain that did not go down the legs. The pain was not severe. It was aggravating but not debilitating. I couldn't bend over as well and I did have limited movement. There seems to be quite a bit of improvement now. I can bend over and squat down and do the work I have to do. I'd say I'm probably 95% better. I have recommended the treatment to other people. I didn't expect as much improvement as I really did get. I thought it was worth a try and it paid off." Charles Walker, Atlanta |
"I found out I had two herniated discs and a third disc bulge. My MRI scan showed one was moderately large on the left at L2-3. The other was a left herniation at L5-S1, pinching my nerve and a bulge at L4-5. It was so painful I had to stop working, doing heavy construction work. The pain was very bad. I tried to go back to work twice but couldn't. Medication didn't help much and I didn't want to do an epidural injection. My back pain before treatment was a 10 out of 10. My pain is now considerably better. My pain is now a 0, to a 1 or 2 sometimes. I can sit in a chair as long as I want. I can walk. I don't have the excruciating pain that I used to have. I don't have the right buttock pain anymore. I used to have the pain going down both legs. I was skeptical of the treatment because I didn't know what it consisted of. I would definitely recommend the treatment to other people". Claudiu Mititean, Duluth |
| "My MRI scan showed I had an extruded herniated disc at L4-5 compressing the nerve root. My nurse friend saw it on the MRI and was surprised how bad it looked. Just before I came into Backstrong for treatment, the pain was so intense I hadn't slept in two nights. After the third treatment here I was able to sleep through the night. My low back went down my left leg to my toes and the pain was constant. Before treatment the pain was more than 10 out of 10. Now it's about a 2 out of 10. The pain left gradually. I don't know if I'll ever get 100% better but this is quite a difference from when I came here. It is so much better. I have done 12 treatments but I can't finish the treatment here because I am moving away. Dr. Castanet recommends I finish the treatment wherever I move. I would definitely recommend the treatment to others." Brenda Ryan, Stone Mountain |
"I had very debilitating back pain making it almost impossible to get in and out of a chair or walk or do normal activities around the house- it was horrible. It got really, really bad during the last 4 or 5 years but I've had it a good 30 years. I've had chiropractic. I've seen many orthopedist surgeons who wanted to do surgery which I would not subject myself to. I did have some shots in the spinal area- three different series- until my legs went numb and I couldn't get off the table and I thought I was going be crippled by that. So I never want back to that again. This decompression treatment has been absolutely awesome. The MRI showed 4 herniated discs. The treatment's been absolutely, positively the best relief I've ever gotten. It's practically all gone. No more pain- once in a while I get a little catch but nothing that's going to keep me from doing what I want to do. It's wonderful. It's nice to have your life back after all that time. I was not skeptical of the treatment because I knew it was the last option left to me. It was either being crippled, and not being able to do what I wanted to, in the kind of pain I was in or surgery, which I was not going to do. My back reacted immediately. I had almost immediate relief from it. It was wonderful. There was no question. After the first treatment I knew it was working. Before treatment I had extreme pain down my legs. It was part of the reason I couldn't walk- it was horrible. I certainly would recommend the treatment to others. It's so wonderful to be able to get relief from something like this without surgery and invasive procedures. Before treatment the pain was a 15 out of 10. After treatment I'm down to a 1-2 once in a while- most of the time it's a zero. It's wonderful. It's impossible to describe it. It really is". Irene Frontiera, age 72, Jackson, GA. |
| "I was having low back pain and pain in both hips and legs. Dr. Castanet said I had a low back problem but he also diagnosed a separate hip problem that he saw on the x-rays, for which I needed to see an orthopedist. He said he could help me with my back pain and the part of my leg pain that was coming from my back but I needed to see the orthopedist for my hip joint problem. I had been to a neurosurgeon who prescribed medications but he didn't say anything about my hip problem. My MRI showed a herniated disc and degenerated disc at L5-S1. After treatment I feel a whole turnaround. My back is 80 to 90 to 100% better. I think the treatment experience has been good and I would recommend it to others". Ashley Scott, Duluth |
"I was having extreme lower back pain. It was a greater severity than I had ever had before. It went down the left leg and the pain was a 9.5 out of 10. I was using crutches. I was so desperate for help I wasn't skeptical. Before treatment I couldn't even sleep. I was sleeping humped over an ottoman chair just to try to take pressure off my lower back. I couldn't even sleep in my bed. I couldn't even walk. I was crawling around my house. I got immediate relief on the spinal decompression table while I was being decompressed. As soon as the decompression started, while I was on the table, there was no pain in my lower back. Since the treatment finished a year ago I've been great. I've been careful to use good body mechanics. I'm a musician so I lift amplifiers and speakers. I lift with my legs and not my back but it's been a year now since I had the treatment and my back is doing great. I believe in the treatment so much that I just returned today for the first time to do a booster. I want to be proactive and prevent going back to that herniation. I'm trying to be proactive instead of reactive. I can do anything now. I can lift, push, jump, lifecycle. I'm very happy". Mark Jacobsen, age 47, Buford, GA |
| "I was referred to Dr. Castanet by my primary physician, so I wasn't skeptical. He sent another patient to Dr. Castanet and she did well. My primary physician definitely thought it would help me and it has. I had back surgery 7 months ago to remove a disc fragment. The surgery helped for a while. Then it continued to get worse. After surgery I had Lortab medication, an epidural and facet and hip injections. They didn't help. I tried a spinal cord stimulator but didn't like it- the feeling is very unpleasant. After 7 treatments of spinal decompression so far, I feel much better than I did to begin with. I feel about 50-60% better so far. I can walk better and sit longer. My balance is better and my pain is not nearly as bad as it was. My pain was 9 or 10 out of 10 in the right buttock. Now it's a 4 or 5 out of 10. My right leg was a 6 out of ten and involved the whole leg. Now it's a 5 out of 10 in only some parts of the leg, not the whole leg. And I am taking less medication now. I would recommend the treatment to others with spine pain". Elsie Hill, Conyers |
"I was having back problems and deteriorated discs. On a scale of 1 to 10, my pain was a 10-12 out of 10. I've had that pain for a long time- 32 years. I've had tens units. I've had injections. I've had all kinds of medications for it. I've been to pain clinics. I felt relief after the first week of treatment. Now I have no pain in my back whatsoever. I had two herniated discs. I have fibromyalgia pain but the leg pain from my back is gone. I am able to stand and wash dishes now. We helped my daughter clean out her garage this past weekend. We spent four days doing that and before I would not have been able to withstand anything like that. I couldn't wash dishes. I couldn't vacuum the rug. Our bedroom is upstairs and I'm able to walk up the stairs a couple of times a day now. Alot of nights I didn't go upstairs and go to bed- I slept on the couch. Today I feel 100% better. I am always recommending the treatment to others". Jimmie Julian, age 63, Decatur, GA |
| "I have had low back pain with a sciatic component on and off for 4 or 5 years, actually up to a decade if you count the beginning. I walk a lot at work and it inhibited my ability to walk around and up and down stairs at home so it had a significant impact on my lifestyle. I have improved about 95% plus with decompression treatment. I have had steroid injections in the past and that would resolve the pain for a short period of time and then it would come back. But after the decompression treatment I feel 95 plus % improvement. I researched decompression on the internet and my expectations were high that it would help. I have recommended the treatment to over a dozen people at this point. I worked at a holistic clinic with a physical medicine doctor before and we worked with back pain patients but I hadn't heard much about decompression treatment. I think this decompression treatment should have a prominent role in the treatment of back and neck pain patients". Dr. Alawode Oladele, M.D., Tucker |
| "I have had recurring back pain off and on for two to three years. I could go months without pain and then have an incident of pain that was 9 or 10 out of 10. Then it would get better over two or three weeks. This recent episode happened when I was lifting luggage and twisted the wrong way. It was a very painful 9 or 10 initially and I couldn't stand up straight. It hurt to walk. It hurt to sit. My only relief came from lying down. I was a little skeptical of decompression treatment at first. But I was really willing and able to try something, anything since past treatments haven't really proved helpful in the long term. The staff here has been really great and professional and I'm optimistic that it's going to be helpful going forward. Right now I'm really pain-free. At the time I was going through the treatments I was still in some pain. It wasn't clear at all times whether the pain was part of the healing process or if it was being caused by the treatments but eventually the pain went away and the treatments continued without any pain so I took that as a good sign that I was on the right path. I was not 100% convinced after the first couple of treatments but I would say that about halfway through the treatments that the pain was starting to go away altogether and I thought I had turned a corner at that point. Time will tell- I'm optimistic and I'm currently pain-free. I'm looking forward to getting back to my regular activities and testing it out. Golf is a passion of mine and I'm not willing to give it up. Before the treatment was finished I resumed play and I haven't had any problems so far". J. Broyles, Decatur |
"I was having severe low back pain that caused me not to be able to stand for a long time. It was also causing me pain when I sat down in a chair for a long time. I couldn't stand or walk over 10 minutes. After that the pain would set in and my back would lock up. I had pain medication from my doctor and went to see a chiropractor. Then I had an MRI and I found out that I had a herniated disc that was pressing on a nerve. After the treatment, I have 0 pain now. I have no pain at all so I feel great. Walking, sitting and standing is back to normal now. I can walk 1 or 2 miles. When I sit it doesn't hurt anymore. I feel like I'm back to normal. I wasn't skeptical because I was in so much pain I was willing to try anything to avoid back surgery. If you're suffering from any type of back pain I would say definitely try this procedure. Back pain is definitely no joke. I couldn't comprehend what other people with back pain were going through. Now I know what they're going through". Joanne Dorsey, Stone Mountain |
|
| "I was amazed at the results. I was astounded. I have now treated hundreds of patients including myself and am continually impressed with the results." Dr. Donald Bailey, M.D., pain management, Savannah, GA. |
| "As an orthopedic surgeon and peer reviewer I see many patients who are significantly worse after back surgery. In many cases I believe that if they had been treated by vertebral axial decompression before surgery they would have resolved completely." Dr. Howard Berkowitz, M.D., orthopedist, Atlanta, GA. |
| "The implementation of vertebral axial decompression in Mexico has revolutionized the therapeutic approach to patients with lumbar spine pathology." Dr. Jose Antonio Alcala, M.D., orthopedist, Monterrey, Mexico. |
| "For the last 7 years I have been burdened with increasing back pain. Before we had limited options for treating acute and chronic back pain- all of which basically treat the symptoms, not the underlying problems. I did the full treatment and I am virtually pain-free. This procedure works. I believe in it so much that I'm now the medical director here." Dr. Jack Dodge, M.D., orthopedist, Mitchell, SD. |
| "Vertebral axial decompression is a more effective treatment than surgery, is safer treatment than surgery, has fewer side effects than surgery and may have beneficial side effects." Dr. David Duncan, M.D., anesthesiology, Tulsa, OK. |
| "I have been very impressed with the effectiveness of vertebral axial decompression. Patients should strongly consider vertebral axial decompression treatment prior to undergoing any aggressive surgical procedure." Dr. Alan Halperin, M.D., internist, Jacksonville, FL. |
| "I have found vertebral axial decompression to be my most effective tool in the treatment of low back pain due to discogenic causes, facet syndrome and failed back surgery syndrome." Robert Odell, M.D., anesthesiology, Las Vegas, NV. |
| "Manipulation, acupuncture, steroid injections, anti-inflammatory agents and muscle relaxants all fall short of addressing the underlying problems associated with intervertebral disc lesions. Vertebral axial decompression should be utilized in all patients who are poor surgical candidates and before surgery is undertaken except in the emergent conditions." Dr. Gustavo Ramos, M.D., neurosurgery, McAllen, TX. |
| "The addition of vertebral axial decompression to my practice has been a most impressive and rewarding experience…..treats the underlying etiology of common causes of acute/chronic low back pain, and not just the symptoms….. should be tried prior to undergoing surgery in all chronic low back pain patients who meet the inclusion/exclusion criteria." Dr. Gerald Weiss, M.D., neurologist, Norwalk, CT. |
